Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Rugby’s back row Mario Pichardie captained Spain in their recent La Vila International Rugby Cup match versus the USA.

Pichardie’s side lost out 12-42 in Villajoyosa, despite the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ International Business student scoring a try for Los Leones.

Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ rugby has a long and proud history of developing internationals for the men’s and women’s game, including recent men’s stars Freddie Steward (England), and Thibaud Flament (France).

James Gallagher, Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ's Rugby Programme Manager, said: “We’re incredibly proud of Mario captaining his country on the international stage.

“It takes a special kind of player to lead a squad and he should feel a great sense of achievement in his latest role.

“Mario’s leadership qualities have shone through whilst he’s been at Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ, and he continues to be an inspiration to his current teammates and those looking to join the programme in the future.”
