Â鶹ÊÓƵ Rugby’s back row Mario Pichardie captained Spain in their recent La Vila International Rugby Cup match versus the USA.

Pichardie’s side lost out 12-42 in Villajoyosa, despite the Â鶹ÊÓƵ International Business student scoring a try for Los Leones.

Â鶹ÊÓƵ rugby has a long and proud history of developing internationals for the men’s and women’s game, including recent men’s stars Freddie Steward (England), and Thibaud Flament (France).

James Gallagher, Â鶹ÊÓƵ's Rugby Programme Manager, said: “We’re incredibly proud of Mario captaining his country on the international stage.

“It takes a special kind of player to lead a squad and he should feel a great sense of achievement in his latest role.

“Mario’s leadership qualities have shone through whilst he’s been at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, and he continues to be an inspiration to his current teammates and those looking to join the programme in the future.”
